Why do you think that? MS released all documents for the ActiveSync protocol, and stated that they did not claim any trade secret rights, you can develope off the protocol based on thier &quot;Community Promise&quot; that they state with all the documentaion over the protocol.

    Yes. That&#039;s sad. But there are 2 typical problems you can see over and over again for opensource projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
First it&#039;s easier to start something from scratch. If you join a project, you have very steep learning curve. Starting something new from scratch is much easier in the first place. In the end it gets complex anyway, but then it is to late, as both projects have a very different codebase.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
And then the second problem arises. If there is no community or other developer, you and your project are left alone. And sooner or later you don&#039;t have the needed power/energy to push your project forward.
